franked on reverse Kwangsi 5c Silver Yuan x 9, total value 45c Silver Yuan, matching the domestic airmail double registered postage, tied by Nanning cds., along with Taiwan, Taipei arrival cds. In early December 1949, PLA had already taken over Kwangtung and Kwangsi. The letter was probably sent from Nanning to Hong Kong by service. However, due to the insurrection of the two KMT aviation companies, domestic airmail service from Hong Kong to Taiwan was not available. This letter was most likely sent by surface to Taipei. It is unthinkable that the post offices in Nanning were business as unusal on the day before liberation. Nanning was liberated on Dec 4. This is a post-liberation usage example of Silver Yuan.

f.w. Canton Liberation Commemorative set of 5 & Kwangtung Silver Yuan x 2, total value 310 RMB. At the time, the postage for ordinary mail was 300 RMB. It therefore carried 10 RMB excess postage. Wuchingfu was liberated on Nov 24. This is a post-liberation usage example of Silver Yuan and the only recorded mixed franking of Silver Yuan and Canton Liberation stamps cover.

Peiliu is Nanning's airport town, but the airplanes and facilities had been removed since mid November 1949. Though airmail postage was paid, this letter could only be delivered by express. Peiliu was liberated on Nov 30. This is a post-liberation usage example of Silver Yuan.

f.w. Kwangtung Unit stamp x 1, value 5c Silver Yuan, matching the cover to Hong Kong postage, tied by Kwangtung Peihai cds. Peihai was liberated on Dec 4. Under the leniency policy, Military Control Commission allowed this letter to be delivered after the expiry of the grace period. The provincial authority of Pakhai changed from Kwangtung to Kwangsi soon after the inauguration of PRC. Since then it is an important seaport for the South West region.
