1949 (Dec 3) Kwangsi Nanning airmail to Taipei cover, franked on reverse Kwangsi 5c Silver Yuan x 9, total value 45c Silver Yuan, matching the domestic airmail double registered postage, tied by Nanning cds., along with Taiwan, Taipei arrival cds. In early December 1949, PLA had already taken over Kwangtung and Kwangsi. The letter was probably sent from Nanning to Hong Kong by service. However, due to the insurrection of the two KMT aviation companies, domestic airmail service from Hong Kong to Taiwan was not available. This letter was most likely sent by surface to Taipei. It is unthinkable that the post offices in Nanning were business as unusal on the day before liberation. Nanning was liberated on Dec 4. This is a post-liberation usage example of Silver Yuan.
