Kaoshanshi was liberated on 1949 Aug. This is a post-liberation usage example of Silver Yuan stamps. This biesected stamp is the other half of the bisected stamp franked on the cover auctioned by Zurich Asia in 2019 as part of Patrick Choy's Collecion, Lot 3035. The only one known.
franked on reverse Chungking Huanan Print SYS Basic Stamp 1c x 3, 4c x 1, total value 7c Silver Yuan, matching the domestic ordinary 5c postage, the 2c was over-franked, tied by Hupei Ichang cds., along with Shanghai arrival cds. Ichang was liberated on Jul 18. This is a post-liberation usage example of Basic Stamps.
used with Hupei I Tu cds. I Tu was liberated on July 15. Rare to see stamps ovpt. with Hupei Post Office name and the piece is even rarer.
tied by Chang Yang cds. Chang Yang was liberated on July 23. Rare to see stamps ovpt. with Hupei Post Office name and the piece is even rarer.
mailed on 18th October 1949 from Canton (49.10.14) via Tsungkow (49.08.16) on 11th November, arrived in Swatow (49.10.24) on 15th November; affixed one Hwa Nan SYS 1 fen and one 10 fen; total value 11fen was not adequate to pay for the 15 fen domestic airmail rate. However, Canton was already liberated at that time and airmail service was no longer available. This letter was handled by express (postage 10 fen). At the time war was still raging along Kwangtung coastal area. This letter had to be routed through Tsungkow to reach Swatow.
