Canton and Chungking transit cds. applied on label. This label is type 1, which shows error in spelling of word "Throug". Extremely rare, less than 6 covers recorded. On front side also bearing violet Tihwa transit cds., showing that the cover finally went out China through Tacheng, Sinkiang. A very nice cover showing the very difficult postal route during Japanese occupation of China. VF-F.
f.w. SYS 5c, $1, $5 and Martyrs 20c with HSBC perfin, tied by Shanghai bilingual cds., along with "via HONGKONG" cachet, registered and airmail label. On reverse with Hong Kong, Brindisi and 2 different Italian railway (#284 and #305) transit cds. This cover was first sent to Hong Kong by ship, then to Cairo and Brindisi by airmail and finally arriving at Denmark by Italian railway. The train trip had taken 23 days because the German Army had invaded Denmark on Apr 9th, 1940.
