A fine and historically significant portrait postcard reflecting early Republican Sino-foreign military relations.
an original press photograph reporting the death of General Chang Tso-lin, Manchurian warlord and former ruler of North China, who died from wounds after his train was bombed in May. The image confirmed his death and marked the rise of his son Chang Hsiao-liang (Zhang Xueliang) as successor.
Guo Songling was executed by Zhang Zuolin after his anti-Fengtian campaign failed. His body was exposed in Fengtian City for three days from December 25 to 27, 1925.

Chinese Nationalist leader Marshal Feng Yuxiang (馮玉祥) at Tianjin railway station on his way to Nanking. The image was taken during a period of heightened military tension following Japan’s troop reinforcement in North China.
“The Christian General” Feng Yu-hsiang leading an army of about 400,000 troops toward Hankow in opposition to Chiang Kai-shek’s regime.
