f.w. Domestic Ordinary Mail Unit Stamp machine ovpt. "Foochow" x 4 on reverse (one damaged), tied by Foochow bilingual cds., along with Peiping arrival cds. On front with Shanghai transit cds. This Foochow ovpt. issues were produced because the exchange rate of Gold and Silver Yuan in Foochow was so different from the rest of the country, so that flipping had to be prevented. f.w. SYS Foochow surch Silver Yuan 2c x 5 and domestic ordinary mail unit stamp on reverse, tied by Foochow Hsiao Chiao Lu cds., along with Fukien Foochow transit and Shanghai arrival cds. After the liberation of Foochow on 17 Aug 1949, silver yuan postage was allowed for two weeks (Aug 17-Sep 1).
