This cover was carried from Hankow to Hong Kong by rail, then to England by airmail. Interestingly, the 65c affixed postage was insufficinet for airmail but no postage due instruction was seen.

Despite the remark, this cover was sent to Hanoi by train and then to Marseille by Air France, probably because the postage was insufficient or the Bruma route was more difficult to travel.

On front side also bearing violet Tihwa transit cds., showing that the cover finally went out China through Tacheng, Sinkiang. A very nice cover showing the very difficult postal route during Japanese occupation of China. VF-F.

On reverse with Athens, Hanoi Tonkin, Hong Kong transit and Shanghai arrival cds. This cover was first delivered by Lufthansa to Athens, then by KLM to Bangkok, Air France to Hanoi and Hong Kong and finally arriving at Shanghai by ship. Excellent example of WWII airmail to China.
