the used portion includes two 50c singles, one 100c single, and a piece bearing 100c stamp, all cancelled by double-circle English datestamp “FORMOSAN REPUBLIC / TAINAN”, while the unused portion consists of blocks of four of 50c and 100c respectively.
top item on the page is Third Issue 100c Blue horizontal pair, both stamps with the denomination “壹佰” omitted, unused, a striking major printing variety. Accompanied by nine forged examples in various colours and denominations, some bearing non-postal or imitation cancellations, offered for reference and study.
a remarkable historical assemblage featuring three used “Tiger” stamps of 1895 Taiwan Republic (30c Blue, 50c Red, and 100c Violet), each cancelled by “FORMOSAN REPUBLIC / TAINAN” double-circle datestamp, mounted alongside a contemporary New York Herald Tribune article by correspondent Davidson, describing the postal issues and administration of the short-lived Republic under Black Flag Chief Liu Yongfu. A unique pairing of philatelic and journalistic documentation reflecting international awareness of the Formosan Republic postal system.
