bearing wooden handstamp “貴州興仁卡子村鎮信櫃”. Originally sent to the Ministry of Justice and Administrative Affairs in Chungking, arriving there on July 1, 1946, and subsequently reforwarded to Nanking after the central government’s relocation following the victory in the Sino-Japanese War, reaching the addressee on July 26 of the same year.
f.w. one unit stamp for surface postage and one for registration, the enclosure noted as a money order to be verified by the Chungking Branch of the Supreme Court. Bearing arrival postmark dated May 24 of the same year (stamps trimmed at top).
f.w. one unit stamp for surface postage and two stamps for registration. Bearing Chungking arrival postmark dated June 16 of the same year, well preserved and in fine condition.
f.w. Silver Yuan 4¢ x 4, underpaying the required postage and treated as insufficiently paid. Bearing Chungking arrival cds of June 28 of the same year.
f.w. revenue surcharged Silver Yuan 4c and 10c, and South China Silver Yuan 1c (total 0.15 yuan), bearing Huaxi cds, arriving Aug 18 in Taipei. A cross-strait correspondence cover, evidencing the relocation of the Nationalist Government to Taiwan.
f.w. Silver Yuan 10¢ x 2. Arrived at Chungking on Oct 5 with arrival postmark, then reforwarded to the Supreme Court’s office location, bearing an additional “東川三八年十月六日沙坪壩” receiving mark. (Given the difficult wartime conditions, mail from remote inland areas was conveyed with great hardship and delay.)
Reverse bears revalued Silver Yuan 4¢ revenue stamps x 11 used as postage, together with one Chungking South China issue Dr. Sun Yat-sen 1¢ stamp, all tied by Sandu cds, with Chungking (Oct 26) and Tungchuan Shapingpa (Oct 27) transits. Correctly franked for the domestic rate: 5¢ surface postage + 20¢ double registration + 10¢ airmail + 10¢ return receipt. Superb condition.
f.w. Silver Yuan 35¢ postage (rate indicating double registration, though the marking is missing). It arrived at the Kunming Post Office on Oct 30, 1949, and was officially received by the addressee on Oct 31 of the same year.
f.w. Silver Yuan 5¢ x 2 (5¢ surface postage plus 5¢ express fee), arriving on Nov 15 of the same year, bearing an early Kunming machine cancellation alongside.
f.w. one unit stamp. Mail originating from the remote Chengkung area is seldom seen, and as the postmark was used only a few times, its characters are exceptionally clear and well-defined, making this a desirable example.
f.w. one Silver Yuan 5¢ stamp.
f.w. Silver Yuan 35¢ postage. It arrived at the Kunming Post Office on Nov 19 and was received by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Civil Affairs on Nov 21 of the same year. Bearing postmarks of “雲南華寧戳” and “昆明到達戳”, as well as two registration “R” handstamps. Well preserved and a very scarce example.
