1949 (Dec 3) Chinese style cover from Kwangsi Nanning express airmail registered to Taipei, f.w. SYS Kwangsi surch Silver Yuan 5c in block of 9 on reverse, tied by Nanning bilingual cds., along with Taipei arrival cds. This cover was paying domestic double-registered airmail rate. As PLA already controlled Kwangtung and Kwangsi in early Dec 1949, Nanning and Canton airport were no longer operational. This cover was probably forwarded to Hong Kong and finally arrived at Taiwan by ship because the KMT aviation companies surrended to CCP. Nanning was liberated on 4 Dec 1949, It also reflected that Nanning PO was still operational just before liberation. Ex Mr. Patrick Choy's Collection.
