1949 (Dec 22) Chinese style cover from Szechuan Tseliutsing to Shanghai, f.w. SYS ovpt. Tseliutsing on East Szechuan Silver Yuan 5c x 10 and SYS West Szechuan surch Domestic Ordinary Unit Stamp x 2 on reverse, tied by Szechuan Tseliutsing cds., along with Chungking transit and Shanghai arrival. Chengtu and the nearby PO overprinted the Szechuan Silver Yuan issues with place of the issuance to prevent communists from getting these stamps at that time. But with the liberation of Chengtu on 27 Dec, the issuance of this type of ovpt. stamps were terminated. Probably a dropped stamp of 5c on the cover when considering the 120c postage of express double-registered mail. Chinese characters "airmail" was noted but airmail was impossible by that time as Chungking airport was already closed on 28 NOV 1949. Ex Mr. Patrick Choy's Collection.
