1949 (Oct 24) Chinese style cover from Canton to Shanghai, f.w. SYS surch $20000 and Gold Yuan 50c (canceled by pen) on front, and Domestic Ordinary Mail Unit Stamp on reverse, tied by Canton bilingual cds. On reverse along with Shanghai arrival mark. Between 15 and 31 Oct 1949, a few POs in Canton sold domestic ordinary mail unit stamp at the price of silver yuan 5c or RMB $100 which was exactly the same rate for domestic surface mail.
