1859 (Dec 5) incoming cover from US to USS Hartford anchored at Hong Kong,

f.w. US Presidential issue 1c x 2 and 3c, tied by US origin cds., along with New York (Dec 7). On reverse with London (Dec 20) transit. Arrived Hong Kong (Feb 11) with manuscript. In Nov 1859, USS Hartford carried the American Minister, John Elliott Ward, who just exchanged ratifications on the Treaty of Tientsin with the governor of Chihli, from Hong Kong to various Chinese cities.
