1949 Revenue issue Hankow surch Gold Yuan $500000 on $20 vertical strip of 3 (Chan G125),

used with Wuchang (May 16) cds. The date of cancel was exactly the day of the liberation of Wuhan. The usage of silver yuan postage was allowed until Liberation issues were available although the invalidation of gold yuan was announced by the military control committe on 23 May. The only recorded philatelic item on the day of Wuhan Liberation.
