This cover correctly pays the special 25 fen airmail rate to Hong Kong/Macao in effect from Nov 1, 1949 to Mar 24, 1950. Recorded examples are very few (only five known), making it a rare item. It clearly illustrates the special airmail postal arrangements from isolated Hainan during the early Silver Yuan period, and is of significant postal history and exhibition value.
