1936 5 Chiao Front Proof (P-S2112p1). Extremely Fine. PMG40. This note is illustrated on page 117 of Lin Ching-Chih’s reference work Central Bank Customs Gold Units – American Bank Note Company Issues, and originates from his original collection, with clear provenance. The issue was never put into mass production, and this piece is the only recorded example. Compared to the issued circulation note, differences are evident in the style of calligraphy, the ornamental designs flanking the denomination, and the corner value ornaments; additionally, no printer’s imprint is present, confirming its proof status. Accompanied by a copy of Lin Ching-Chih’s aforementioned publication, signed by the author.
