24cd. rose red variety imperforate between vertical pair, each neatly cancelled by Tientsin seal type X in blue, each struck sideways. Exceptionally fresh and fine, bright color and a magnificent example of this popular, high value variety.This variety occurred on three sheets, but we have records of only 5 used pairs and 14 unused pairs. This is one of the 5 pairs used surviving. It is though that this pair came from pane 3 and joins a similarly cancelled pair which has the right interpanneau margin. ½ c on 3cd. dull yellow, variety imperforate between horizontal pair, large part original gum; the perforations have been trimmed wide at foot suggesting that this pair is from the foot of the pane [19-20]. A rare and important variety, so far only 4 unused and one used pair have been recorded. Chans 74i; S.G. 78e. Spink Auction, November 1997 Paramount Collection, December 2017
10c on 6cd. brown, variety imperforate between vertical pair in a top right corner vertical strip of three, pane 2 [4/12], large part original gum; some gum is missing from the top margin and there are a couple of tone patches which are barely visible from the front. Well centred and good colour. A most desirable positional piece. Chans 43c; S.G. 43c, Ex Richard Canman October 1972.
4c on 4cd. dull pink variety surcharge inverted, with interpanneau margin at side, part original gum, minor ageing, from the sheet with the high surcharge and shows cracked dot of gin. Scarce with margin. Chan 77b variety.
