f.w. SYS Foochow surch Silver Yuan 2c x 5 and domestic ordinary mail unit stamp on reverse, tied by Foochow Hsiao Chiao Lu cds., along with Fukien Foochow transit and Shanghai arrival cds. After the liberation of Foochow on 17 Aug 1949, silver yuan postage was allowed for two weeks (Aug 17-Sep 1). This type of DPP handstamp has only 3 existing examples, earlist one used on July 14, this is the latest one on Sep. 14, as Chekiang area was mostly liberated in May 1949, there was a shortage of ROC Unit stamp and revenue surch.
