each crafted in traditional form with cylindrical bamboo stem and fitted metal mouthpiece and bowl. One of lighter honey-brown hue with natural nodes preserved, the other of darker tone with refined patina. Both display typical wear from age and use, with light oxidation to fittings. An attractive matched pair exemplifying late 19th to early 20th century Chinese smoking implements.
the pipe body retains original branch joints, giving it a rustic and organic form. Naturally aged patina with minor traces of use, overall well preserved - a fine representative example of traditional Chinese smoking implements.
Plus, two Shanghai Mint commemorative medals, including a 1989 Fan Chung Yen 1000th Birth Anniversary medal and a 2001 year of the Snake zodiac medal, graded GBCA MS 65 and MS 66 respectively.
