The card was sent by the Director of the Tibetan Ganzi Postal Bureau to the renowned Swiss watch company West End & Co. in Calcutta. The message discusses the maintenance of clocks on the railway platform. This is the only recorded example of a Imperial 4th postal card sent from Tibet to a foreign destination. Most known examples from Tibet were mailed domestically, primarily from Shigatse. Foreign-destination cards from Tibet are exceedingly rare.
