1897年4月2日北京寄天津西式封，蓋有藍色北京中國郵政信力已付3圈戳及北京海關總署日戳。由於大清國家郵政的成立，以往用海關銀計價的郵票宣佈停用，並以新的洋銀計價郵票代之。在此期間，因為新印的郵票未到，暫時以這款郵資已付戳代替郵票交付郵資，這款戳在冬季陸路郵路開始時使用，應為1896年12月11日，實寄所見最早是天津的12月26日和北京的12月28日，這枚封寄於1897年4月2日，是記錄中最晚的使用日期。水原明窗《華郵集錦》第2部第7冊第3頁實物。

This Postage Paid chop was applied to temporarily replaced the stamps in "Candarin" unit, as the new postage rate by "Silver Dollar" unit will take effect on and after Jan 1, 1897, but the new unit stamps have not been issued yet. The Postage Paid chop seemed to be first used on Dec 11, 1896, when the overland route was opened annually. Earliest known date are Dec 26 (Tientsin) and Dec28 (Peking). This cover sent on Apr 2, 1897, was the latest used example of this chop known to date. Mizuhara "Huayou Jijin II" vol. 7, p.3.
