A group of Siberia concerning items, comprising Embossed Eagle & Dragon post card used from Russian Post Office Chefoo in 1899 to Parchim, early period cover front from Russian Post Office Tientsin to France with Russian instruction handstamp "Via Port Arthur to Siberia", an unused picture post card“Panorama Transsiberiene”issued at Exposition Universelle de 1900 and relevant clips from early newspapers and magazines relating to the construction & guarding of the trans-Siberian railway, using ferry to carry train across Lake Baikal etc. (2 cards, 1 front & 6 clips).

1902 (Apr) Imperial 1st Postal Card uprated with CIP 4c, from Tsinan used to Germany, cancelled circular TSINAN/POST OFFICE handstamp, addressed to Weimar Germany (2.5.02 arrival c.d.s.) transit via Kiaochow and Tsingtau with German Post Office Tsingtau cancelling Kiautschou 20 pf stamp, endorsed“Via Siberia”. This is early example of Chinese Post Office handling“Via Siberia”mail. VF-F.

Collection of 90 picture postcards written by a Frenchman C.E. Tanant to his mother at Vosges France in 1903, when he travelled by train from France to Warsaw and boarded the Trans-Siberian Railway to Dalny, from there he went to Peking and Shanghai, continuing to send postcards to his mother, unwittingly recorded many scarce Train Post Office cancellationson on such cards. Two copies each of the book recording this 1903 Paris to Shanghai journey in English and Chineese accompany this lot. (90+4 books)
